G1A-3 Preview: Middleburg lined up to repeat in tough district

Last season: Middleburg finally got over the hump and earned their first girls district title after finishing second for three seasons.
How did Kabra do?: We saw that the Broncos were good enough to get their first crown, but we missed a little on runner-up Bartram Trail (We had them finishing sixth)

Wrestlers to watch: Kailani Barrientos (Oakleaf), Zara Exilus (Creekside), Fallon Dames (Middleburg), Gracie Diaz (Gainesville), Sarah Walsh (Middleburg), Taylor Pelchat (St. Augustine), Lily Bradshaw (Middleburg), Zoe Goode (Oakleaf).
The favorite: Middleburg. It took four seasons to win a first district title, it shouldn’t take a long for the second.
Team to watch: Oakleaf. The Knights have some heavy hitters to push them toward the top.

What they are saying: “I think we're up to seven or eight, which is good. And we returned everybody from last year. We weren't able to wrestle. It was a little frustrating at the end of the year that just injuries and weird stuff piled up where we weren't able to wrestle two of our girls in the postseason where we were able to wrestle them pretty much the whole year. But we bring everybody back and we only have one senior which is promising. And they've worked hard. It's a numbers game, so we're trying to really get numbers up.”
Outlook: More girls in the room should push a returning group that has experience.
Creekside Knights

On Zara Exilus: “I expect a really big season for her. She’s been putting in the time this summer. I expect her to be on the podium, near the top.”
Outlook: With Highsmith concentrating on building the girls team, look for the Knights to put together the deepest team so far since the sport was sanctioned. State qualifier Exilus leads the way and will look to improve on her breakout sophomore season.
