G1A-2 Preview: Sandalwood looking for second straight title
Kabra Wrestling Rankings are updated every week all season long for Kabra+ members.
Last season: One year after finishing 12th, Sandalwood leapt to the top of the district, winning the team title convincingly.
How did Kabra do?: We didn’t have Sandalwood’s rise being as high as it was (we had them finishing fifth). Well done Saints.

Wrestlers to watch: Bella Guerrier-Lajoir (Columbia), Lilian Ison (First Coast), Sara Goodman (Sandalwood).
The favorite: Sandalwood. With the numbers they have back, they could be the team to beat again.
Team to watch: Riverside. We don’t know how they have coming back, but if they bring them back, they’ll be tough.

On Laron: "I'm just trying to get her confidence up, I'm trying to get her fired up. She said she's not doing her other sports now, trying to focus on wrestling, but she was a multisport athlete at the time."

Notable returning wrestlers: Bella Guerrier-Lajoir, Sr., 30-12, SQ, R4, D2.
On Bella Guerrier-Lajoir: “I think she would have performed better last year, but I think it was more of being kind of overwhelmed a little bit because Lake City is a small town in the middle of nowhere, and that was her first time really ever being out of town into an environment like that. We focus this summer on taking her to a lot of big tournaments. so that way she's not overwhelmed by the moment. This summer, she's already beaten multiple state places from multiple weight classes. She's focused on this year not so much as trying to get down to a weight where she thinks she's going to perform better at the weight she's at. She's a powerhouse in the weightlifting room. Her conditioning is top-notch and she has eliminated that fear of failure that a lot of young wrestlers have. She has more of the mentality of you're going to have to stop me now, which is exciting to watch.”
Outlook: Columbia has lost their top tier heavyweights to softball, but Guerrier-Lajoir is back and looking to punctuate her career with a big performance in March.

What they are saying: “We just officially chartered for the first time our girls team and we've got some good wrestlers on that girls team which I was surprised, because we never had any girls before.”
On starting the girls team as soon as he took the job: “It was huge. We're all getting girls teams and it's good because you have those girls that are fighters they want to get out there and wrestle and we've got a couple of them this year that I think will do very well. They can actually feel at home too. They feel comfortable and we're still wrestling each other at practice, because that's making everybody better. But it was very important to get that set up as soon as possible so we could get them ready for February,”
Outlook: Gaskins and Stonerook both wrestled with the boys team last year and reached the region tournament. The Warriors this year will compete in the girls classification and expect big things for both wrestlers.

What they are saying: “As of right now, we have six girls and some that'll I think will be pretty good. It kind of just recruited itself. I sent out an information meeting for this year's program just for boys and then girls showed up and I said the ones that are in here, y'all show up to our conditioning let's see yeah give them a week if I run them off just because we'll go out there and run for an hour and they didn't run off so I did a girls interest meeting and got a few more and I had one girl participate over the summer.”
Outlook: The girls at Trinity Christian wanted to join the wrestling team so they created a girls team and this will be their first year participating.
