3A-7 Preview: Bloomingdale looking for third title in four seasons
Kabra Wrestling Rankings are updated every week all season long for Kabra+ members.
Last season: Bloomingdale fought off a charging pack led by Armwood to win the district title be 12.5 points.
How did Kabra do?: We picked the champs correctly but we definitely missed the boat on Armwood’s meteoric rise. We won’t make that mistake again.

Wrestlers to watch: James Aguilar (Riverview), Zion Dennie (Wharton), Mason Zalud (Newsome), Francis Callazo-Birriel (Wiregrass Ranch), Leonardo Perdomo (Bloomingdale).
The favorite: Bloomingdale. If they have back what we think they’ll have back, they’re still the team to beat here.
Team to watch: Armwood. There’s something special going on in the Hawks room and while we whiffed on them last year, we won’t make that mistake this time.

What they are saying: “ I mean the team said the standard is what they finished off with last year. They said instead of sending 10 to regionals, we need to get, 12 to 14, we need to have a whole team go to regionals. They saw some pre-season rankings and they posted it up in our wrestling room and said, ‘Hey, this is where they believe we're at because we lost four heavy guys.’ We have eight returners and they've been heavy recruiting and working this summer. I'm hoping for the same this year if not better. I mean, the boys and the girls, are here to make a statement. They saw where they were ranked. They weren't happy.”
On Pedro and Rainel Machado: “They've been just work horses, learning the sport. They constantly ask questions. They're always trying to find ways to get to a club to get more work in. They bring in young guys. They take the time to teach. They even help me out when they're like, ‘Hey coach, let's slow this down a little bit because these guys aren't getting it.’ When I'm getting in my zone and just coaching and going, they help me slow it down.”
On the growth of the program: “You just have to keep growing every day. I have to grow as a coach, as a person, and I continue to push that onto my kids. I mean, in our first year, everybody wanted to wrestle us for their senior night. Last year, people cancelled on us for a senior night. We came in second in our district. I had girl make it to states, place for us, and we sent 10 kids to the regional tournament. So yeah, we just kept growing and we keep growing.”
Outlook: The Hawks had the biggest jump in district standings in the state last year, going from 11th to 2nd place.
