What they are saying: “These guys and girls had a very unorganized season last year, but they've immediately bought in to the standards we're setting. They are a determined group who love the sport, and they're all working hard to put wrestling on the map in Callahan.”

On taking over the program: “It's my first year coaching in general, and I'm already feeling the learning curve. I'm very excited to pour into my alma mater, West Nassau, and give the athletes a shot at success.”

On building the culture: “You got to make it seem cool. We know it's cool, but do the kids know it's cool? Do they even know it exists? So we have got to do a better job and using social media is a big thing. We are just posting and getting the kids to post and if the kids want to if they're bought in, they're going to push it to their friends. I've seen that already. I've been blessed with really a good group of kids that are wanting to push this. They really see the vision too, they want to build the culture of themselves. It's not just me dragging them into building this thing up, they are the building blocks themselves. They see that. I can't even take all the credit for that because they really want it and I'm guiding them through it and I'm keeping them in check and I'm giving them all I can.”

Outlook: At 22 years old, Rowell didn’t expect to be coaching wrestling but when the opportunity arose at his alma mater and he saw the need for someone to bring some fresh life into it, he jumped at the chance.
