Recent district results: 2026:2; 2025:7; 2024:5; 2023:14; 2022:7

Notable losses (Graduation/Transfer): Keegan Vernold, 13-17, RQ, D4; Gigi Mendes, 28-12, D6; Presley Vogt, Sr., 27-11, RQ-BR, D2 (Moved).

Notable returning wrestlers: Alexis Hutter, Sr., 31-5, S6, RC, DC; Karliana Arteaga, Sr., 22-7, SQ, R2, DC; Amelia Fuentes, So., 24-9, RQ, D2; Aaliyah Fisher, So., 15-11, D5; August Vogt, So., 15-14, D6.

New wrestlers: Kenadee Michaels, Fr.; Ava Phillips, Fr.; Karla Gonzalez, Fr.; Cassie Willet, Fr.

What they’re saying: “I think the girls can make a solid run at a district title to rival North Fort Myers, just because the talent that I have coming in. I've got three that should be in the finals and should be district champions. It'll be interesting to see how they perform."

On the depth: "This will be my first year with a full lineup and a full girls schedule. I've got actually a JV and a varsity girl schedule. I've got my newer girls that are going to be doing the JV thing to get experience and then by the end of the season, I should be implementing or putting them into the lineup as well for these bigger tournaments. I just want to introduce them to the lower level of competition instead of just throwing them in there and having them get crushed."

On Kenadee: "She is next level. She actually skipped a grade and did seventh and eighth grade as a homeschooler last year just to become an a ninth grader as a 13-year-old. Everybody else is actually out there doing the exact opposite, holding themselves back so they can be bigger and stronger but she wants the competition. She wants to compete. She does not want to continue to wrestle in I Own Florida tournaments, she wants to be at the state tournament. She did what she wanted to do and here she is. She's a 13 and she won't be 14 until January of this year but she's steady out there beating 18-year-old seniors. I mean every weekend. She is probably my hardest worker in the room."

Outlook: The Pirates have a mix of the top girls returning and depth and get supercharged with Michaels showing up a year early.

Notable returning wrestler: Somona Garcia, Sr., 17-7.

What they’re saying: "Simona is the main one and she's going to be the one having probably the most success on the girl side of the mat. The rest of the girls are kind of somewhere in between very new and somewhat inexperienced. Not a ton of experience on the girl side. We probably will have somewhere between six to eight Lady Tiger wrestlers who compete, but out of those six or eight, probably only one, two, maybe three of them will really have high expectations for success on the mat. The rest of them will be learning a lot this year."

On Simona: "She's a senior and when it comes to senior leadership, she is probably the one on the team. She whips all the boys into shape. When it's time for practice, she's telling everybody, "Hey, let's go. Get your shoes on. This is what we're doing.' Leading the warm-ups and leading the workouts and the stretches. She is definitely an alpha leader."
