1A-13 Preview: King’s Academy looking to stay atop a rising jungle
Kabra Wrestling Rankings are updated every week all season long for Kabra+ members.
Last season: King’s Academy followed up the school’s first district title in 2025 with an emphatic win in 2026, rolling to the title by 104.5 points over runner-up Lincoln Park.
How did Kabra do?: Not our best performance after picking King’s Academy. Coral Springs Charter earned their spot in the region duals and then Lincoln Park scored big to finish in second place at the IBT.

What they’re saying: "I took over last year and had kind of a complete rebuild here. I had a handful of kids that were experienced, but I only had 15 kids on the whole team. I've worked really hard this offseason. I coach middle school football and just trying to recruit these football players. So, I'm going to have a lot of young guys this year. There should be 30 to 40 kids trying out this year. I do have a pretty good core of experienced guys, but I just don't I probably won't have a full lineup of experienced guys. This year is just trying to establish these young guys so the next couple years we can we can have a good dual team."
On Duke Rimes: "One of my favorite parts of coaching is I actually get to wrestle. My coach beat the crap out of me when I was in high school and my coach was kind of the litmus test. If you could take coach down, you can take anybody down and so I kind of use myself as that litmus test here. I realized last year that Duke's really good. I can't do a whole lot to Duke anymore and this year he's even better. I think for him it's just believing that he could be a state champ. I think he's got all the skill set. He's got the strength. He works really hard. He's worked all off season. He plays football but he comes to practice three nights a week after football. He's pretty committed. I think we're going to have a good season with Duke."
On culture he wants: "Really since 2013, we've kind of been a joke. When I was at Jupiter, I really enjoyed wrestling Jupiter Christian because it was like a bye round. My goal this year is just to make us tough. I don't want anyone to look forward to wrestling Jupiter Christian. Everyone knows they're going to get a tough match when they wrestle us. We may not win everyone, but at least we gave it a go and and made it tough for them. Hopefully you'll see a little bit more physical style and a little bit more aggression."
Outlook: It’s year two of a rebuilding, but there are bodies in the room and the base is being set going forward.
