Last season: Buchholz won one of the tightest district races in the state last year, with Derryl Godbolt securing the team win with a pin in the 285-pound finals. The Bobcats edged Flagler Palm Coast by 4.5 points.

What they’re saying: “This is a hard-working, team-first group that’s really buying into our culture. We’ve got a strong mix of experienced returners and younger athletes who are hungry to improve. What stands out most right now is their attitude. They’re showing up consistently, putting in the work in both the wrestling room and the weight room, and holding each other accountable. It’s a group that understands that success is built daily, not just on match day.”
On the size of the team: “Last year we had 65 kids come out. It was like the first time program history we've ever had that many kids come out. A lot of them were first year wrestlers. We had 17 freshman come out last year. We only have four seniors, but next year we have 16 juniors now. So, next year we should have pretty full senior class and I'm just looking forward to watching the growth that they have this year off of what they put in over the summer as far as going to camps and different tournaments here and there. But looking forward to a lot of growth this year.”
On managing the big roster: "A lot of them have been through our system so they understand what our system is and it's just refining that and making sure that they know what works for them but I've got quite a few assistant coaches to come in and help. Our room's not that big, but we do have a space outside where a lot of the kids go out and we bring a couple mats outside and they work outside and we rotate them. It's the teacher in me using centers basically rotating the kids every 30-45 minutes between inside weight room and then conditioning. It's a lot of moving pieces, but it's moving pieces I love to have."
Outlook: The biggest problem at Nease is that the program is growing too big. It’s a nice problem to have. The numbers in the room foreshadow a promising future for the program as they seek to get experience this season.
