St. John Neumann makes school history with title-winning performance

BY BRANT PARSONS — The FHSAA girls wrestling postseason kicked off on Monday and already the postseason has given us a history making performance.

Super six power Celtics

Zoey McDonald (110), Hailee Moder (115), Emily McIntosh (120), Savanna Porter (125), Julianna Caisse (140), and Loghan Anzualda (155) all finished atop the medal stand on Monday to lead St. John Neumann to the team crown in the girls 1A-12 district tournament.

The wins for Moder and Caisse secured their spot in the Four-Timers Club as they’ve each won four individual titles.

The Celtics finished with 161 points, 36 better than runner-up Naples.

Naples advanced all seven of its wrestlers to next weekend’s region tournament with Mia Valladares (100), Sophie Simons (125), and Hannah Bettridge (130) all finished as district runners-up.

Immokalee finished in third place as a team with Aaliyah Guerrero (135) winning a title.

Canterbury’s Nola Rager (100) and Claire O’Donnell (145), Barron Collier’s Kiera Partello (105), East Lee County’s Isabel Roman (130), Dunbar’s A’Nia Harris (170), and Aubrey Rogers’ Madi Selig (190) and Colleen Plumley (235) all won individual crowns.
